I can't believe I haven't posted about the Ace Fanny Pack yet! I currently own this style in four colors/patterns—Shearling, Dusk Camo, Dune, and Dark Moss—and I've used them on and off for around seven months for outings such as:
- Walking/Attempting to Jog
- Errands (slung over shoulder)
- Art Exhibits
- Vet Visits (especially helpful for wrangling multiple animals)
For outings, I’m able to fit my Travel Wallet, a reusable BAGGU bag, my keys, and even my iPhone inside the Ace Fanny. For walks around the neighborhood, I take a small water bottle, a reusable bag, and my keys; while this combo makes the pack look quite lumpy, it gets the job done. (My phone stays in my hand because I play Pokémon GO while I walk. 🙈)
There are a variety of ways to wear this bag, which is great. I tend to either sling it over my shoulder (the way my Mom is wearing it in the above picture) or wear it in the traditional fanny pack style, but I'd recommend checking out Dagne Dover's Instagram for additional styling ideas.
Packed with a BAGGU, water bottle, and keys (hence the lumpiness) |
One aspect of the Ace Fanny Pack that I don’t quite ‘get’ is the vertical exterior slip pocket. A standard iPhone technically fits but sticks out substantially, and I’m not sure I would trust it to hold any important cards in place. A horizontal pocket the size of a standard iPhone (perhaps with some kind of closure mechanism) might have made more sense to me. If you have any insights about the purpose of this pocket, let me know...
My first Ace Fanny was actually this fuzzy Shearling guy from FW18. I immediately had a vision for him and couldn’t resist! I used 13mm doll eyes I had on hand along with strong magnets to create this look. I have to be careful around magnetic surfaces lest the eyes jump on a Target cart again, so I tend to save this one for fun/artsy outings rather than for running errands.
Sweet dreams aren't made of this |
If you’re a light packer who likes taking walks or has days where being hands-free would make your life easier, I think an Ace Fanny Pack would be a great option to have in your collection. They retail for $85, but keep an eye on the Sale page—you can usually find last-season colors for less!
Please let me know if you have any questions or requests for additional comparison photos—I'll do my best to help.
