Dagne Dover Landon Comparison & Brief Review

Here's another long-overdue post—a comparison of all five Landon sizes (XS-XL)! I don't have packing photos for all five sizes currently, but I'll explain how I've used them in the past and share some side-by-side comparisons. Timeline: The small, medium, and large Landons were introduced to the Dagne Dover lineup on January 12th, 2017. The XL size debuted as part of the FW18 collection, and the XS size made its debut shortly after during SS19.

Care tips: Dagne Dover recommends hand-washing these bags, but I find they develop water spots if they aren't uniformly soaked—many of us have actually found that washing our Landons in the washing machine on a gentle cycle and letting them air-dry does the trick! Be sure to put the Landon in its dust bag first to help protect the hardware. 

• When attaching the crossbody strap, attach the clips so the opening faces toward the body of the bag; otherwise, the clip could snag and pierce a hole through your bag's shoulder strap. Click here for an example.

XS Landon

• XS Landon: 9” L x 4.75” W x 6.25” H

I'm a tiny bag fan, so this is my personal favorite size out of all the Landons! (I have a separate review post/video for the XS—click here.) An iPad Mini fits in the body of the bag if the side pockets aren't stuffed like they are in the photo above. 

Small Landon

• Small Landon: 12" L x 6" W x 7.5" H

The Small Landon is great for errand days where you need a little more room as well as gym visits where you don't need to bring much. An iPad Mini fits in the tablet sleeve, and a 12" MacBook fits in the body of the bag. 

Medium Landon

• Medium Landon: 14.5" L x 7.5" W x 9" H

I used to use a Medium Landon to carry comfort items such as a plush cardigan, a small stuffed animal pillow, and fluffy socks to the hospital. I've heard great things about using this size as a carry-on/under the seat bag while flying, and it's also the ideal size for a gym bag. I think many DD fans would agree that the Medium is the most versatile of the five Landon sizes!

Large Landon

• Large Landon: 16.5" L x 9" W x 11" H 

I used my Large Landon in Sol Airmesh most recently for a 24-hour whirlwind trip to Indianapolis to buy an instrument. I packed very lightly, so it fit under the seat in front of me on the airplane with no issues. I highly recommend the 2018 air mesh material in particular! (I've also used my Large Landon in Quartz as an overhead carry-on, which worked great as well.)

XL Landon

• XL Landon: 20.5” L x 10” W x 10.5” H

I had a chance to use my XL Landon in Haze Camo on a road trip last year. It's huge! The XL interior even has two large air mesh slip pockets below the zippered compartment.

Crossbody Strap Tip

This is what could happen if the opening of the crossbody strap clasp faces the shoulder straps.

Do this instead!
